Golf in South Wales

Easily reached from the South-West, London or the Midlands, South Wales is fast gaining an international reputation as one of the UK’s premier golf destinations. It’s not hard to see why – with such a wide range of great golf courses – both parkland and links – and plenty of tournament heritage, this region is a brilliant place for a golf break. The Twenty Ten course at Celtic Manor, close to the border with England, is a huge draw with its drama-inducing, risk-and-reward hole – not to mention to luxury 5* hotel onsite. Further along the coast it’s pure links all the way, with former Walker Cup venue Royal Porthcawl, Harry Colt’s Pyle & Kenfig, the spectacular Pennard – known as the links in the sky - as well as the Nicklaus-designed Machynys Peninsula. With views to die and the warmest of welcomes, South Wales is great option for your UK golf vacation.

South Wales has cool summers and mild winters, but temperatures here are milder than the North due to its coastal position. Cardiff and Swansea in particular experience large amounts of rainfall so we recommend packing your waterproofs. But don’t let a bit of rain put you off; temperatures in the summer months (May – August) have been known to hit above 85 °F, plus you will get to experience world renowned golf at the likes of Celtic Manor and Royal Porthcawl during your golf vacation in South Wales.
